Ohio Missing Persons

Missing Persons

When a loved one is missing, families should first turn to local law enforcement who can provide immediate assistance to work towards reunification.

Guided by AG Yost’s belief that, everybody counts, BCI stands ready to assist families seeking guidance and law enforcement agencies in need of specialized support.

The Bureau of Criminal Investigation is committed to providing comprehensive resources to families and law enforcement agencies during missing person investigations. Through specialized investigative assistance, advanced forensic services and advocate support, BCI works tirelessly to help locate missing individuals and bring answers to families. BCI’s dedicated team collaborates closely with local, state and federal partners to ensure that every case receives the attention and expertise it deserves – everybody counts, and everybody matters.

BCI accomplishes these goals by:

  • Maintaining databases of missing children and adults
  • Providing agent and analyst support to further missing person investigations
  • Gathering tip information and collaborating with partner agencies
  • Issuing missing persons alerts during critical situations
  • Offering resources and training to families and law enforcement
  • Serving as the state’s clearinghouse and repository for missing person data
  • Utilizing BCI’s state crime lab as a critical tool to further missing persons investigations
