Attorney General DeWine Announces More Than 100 Additional Affidavits from Internet Cafes Filed Since Last Week's Deadline

Ohio Attorney General Mike DeWine today announced that since the deadline last week, an additional 105 affidavits from owners of internet cafĂ© sweepstakes parlors have been received by his office.  With the addition of the 105 received past the stated deadline, the total number reported to the state is now 772.

Deadline Approaching for Obtaining Richland Hospital Records

(COLUMBUS, Ohio) – Former patients of Richland Hospital who would like to obtain a copy of their medical records should contact the Office of Ohio Attorney General Mike DeWine on or before March 1, 2011.

Richland Hospital has been closed since October 2000, and patient records have been transferred to the care of the Ohio Attorney General’s Office. Former patients may take possession of their own patient records by properly completing a written request on a release form, together with any required attachments,  and submitting them to the Ohio Attorney General’s Office on or before March 1, 2011 and taking possession of such records on or before March 15, 2011.

D.A.R.E. Students Raise Nearly $1,000 for Ohio Hospital

According to Auglaize County Sheriff Al Solomon, whose office oversees the county's D.A.R.E. program, several students raised approximately $1,000 to donate to Dayton Children's Medical Center.

DeWine Joins Great Lakes Attorneys General in Coalition to Combat Invasive Species

Ohio Attorney General Mike DeWine today announced efforts by Great Lakes attorneys general to expand their coalition to combat invasive species. DeWine joined attorneys general from New York, Michigan, Minnesota, Pennsylvania, and Wisconsin in sending a letter to 27 other states asking them join in demanding immediate action by federal authorities to develop a permanent barrier halting the spread of and damage caused by aquatic invasive species.

DeWine Praises Ruling Striking Down Health Care Law

(COLUMBUS, Ohio) – Senior U.S. District Judge Roger Vinson of the Northern District of Florida today ruled in favor of Ohio and 25 other states that challenged the constitutionality of the federal health care law. The judge found the law’s “individual insurance mandate” unconstitutional and declared the entire act void.

Columbus Man Indicted for Running Video Game Console Scam

Ohio Attorney General Mike DeWine and Franklin County Prosecutor Ron O'Brien announced today the indictment of a Columbus man who allegedly ran a video game console scam on Craigslist. The indictments were the result of a collaborative investigation by the Worthington Police Department and the Attorney General's Economic Crimes Division.

Cleveland-Area School Sued for Misrepresentation

(CLEVELAND, Ohio) — Ohio Attorney General Mike DeWine today announced a lawsuit against Cleveland-based Community of Faith Christian School alleging multiple violations of Ohio consumer law, including misrepresenting the degrees it offered to students.

Civil Rights Commission Reaches Housing Settlement with Cleveland Apartment Operators

The Ohio Civil Rights Commission (OCRC) and Ohio Attorney General Mike DeWine today announced the settlement of a discrimination claim against the developers, designers, owners, and builders of Stonebridge Waterfront Apartments, Stonebridge Towers and Stonebridge Plaza (collectively, Stonebridge properties) located in Cleveland, Ohio.  The settlement agreement substantially increases the availability of accessible housing opportunities in downtown Cleveland for persons with mobility limitations.

Cincinnati Police Department and Mount Healthy Police Chief Earn Awards at 2011 Ohio Attorney General’s Law Enforcement Conference

The Central Vice Control Section of the Cincinnati Police Department received a Distinguished Law Enforcement Valor Award. Chief Albert P. Schaefer of the Mount Healthy Police Department received the Mark Losey Distinguished Law Enforcement Service Award.
