Attorney General DeWine Announces Consumers Will Receive $75,000 in Pinnacle Security Settlement

In a settlement announced today by Ohio Attorney General Mike DeWine, Utah-based Pinnacle Security has agreed to pay more than $75,000 in restitution to 169 Ohio consumers and additional restitution to consumers who file eligible complaints with the Ohio Attorney General’s Office within the next 60 days.

Attorney General DeWine Announces Community Fraud Forums as Cyber Fraud Legislation Takes Effect

(COLUMBUS, Ohio) – Ohio Attorney General Mike DeWine today announced that his office is hosting regional community fraud forums this summer to discuss how Ohioans can work together to fight fraud. The announcement comes on the same day that Ohio's new cyber fraud law takes effect. The law gives the Attorney General new tools to help local prosecutors fight economic crimes.
 
"We are committed to working collaboratively with local communities to protect Ohio families," DeWine said. "The forums are an opportunity to have meaningful conversations about how best to work together. We appreciate the new tools the legislature has given us to better help local prosecutors, and now we have to determine how to put those and other tools to good use."

Attorney General DeWine Announces BCI Office Opening in Athens

ATHENS – Ohio Attorney General Mike DeWine today announced that a new regional office of the Bureau of Criminal Identification and Investigation (BCI) will open in Athens to help better serve law enforcement in Southeast Ohio counties.

"I am pleased that we will be able to better serve local law enforcement and county prosecutors in Southeast Ohio by opening a regional BCI office in Athens," said Attorney General DeWine. "Having an office in Athens will make it easier for law enforcement to deliver evidence to be processed by our lab and also to give them access to full-time polygraph services."

The arrest happened in Portage County this afternoon after agents with the Attorney General's Crimes Against Children Task Force said they found evidence the man was downloading and sharing child pornography.

Attorney General DeWine Announces Agreement with Pharmaceutical Company to Recover Medicaid Funds

Columbus -- Ohio Attorney General Mike DeWine announced today that Ohio has joined other states and the federal government to reach an agreement in principle with pharmaceutical manufacturer, UCB, Inc., to settle allegations that the company marketed the anti-epileptic drug Keppra® for off-label purposes and caused the Ohio Medicaid program to pay false reimbursement claims.

Attorney General DeWine Announces Agreement to Recover Medicaid Funds

(Columbus, OH) – Attorney General Mike DeWine announced today that Ohio has joined other states and the federal government to reach an agreement in principle with pharmaceutical manufacturer EMD Serono to settle allegations of causing false or fraudulent claims for Rebif to be submitted to the Medicaid program.
