Attorney General DeWine Files Complaint Against The Bank of New York Mellon for Deceptive Foreign Currency Exchange Practices

Ohio Attorney General Mike DeWine today filed a lawsuit against The Bank of New York Mellon (“BNY Mellon”) for breach of contract, fraud, violations of the Ohio Deceptive Trade Practices Act and unjust enrichment on behalf of Ohio Police & Fire Pension Fund (OP&F) and School Employees Retirement System (SERS).

Attorney General DeWine Sues Basement Remodeling Business for Consumer Law Violations

(COLUMBUS, Ohio) – Ohio Attorney General Mike DeWine today announced a lawsuit against Webb Contracting, LLC and its owner, Brett Webb, for violations of Ohio’s consumer laws.

“Imagine paying a company several thousand dollars for home improvement work that is never completed as promised,” Attorney General DeWine said. “That’s the experience that consumers said they had with this business. We tried to resolve the issues with Mr. Webb, but those efforts have failed, leaving us no choice but to file this lawsuit.”

Attorney General DeWine Announces Sentencing in Theft from Nursing Center Residents

(ATHENS, Ohio) – Attorney General Mike DeWine announced that Janet Root, 35, was sentenced this week in connection with her theft of patient funds at the Arcadia Nursing Center in Coolville, Ohio. Root was sentenced in Athens County Common Pleas Court to five years of community control and ordered to pay $31,471 in restitution. She also received a nine-year suspended sentence. Root, a business manager at Arcadia Nursing Center, pled guilty last November to four counts of Theft from the Elderly, fourth-degree felonies, and two counts of Forgery, fourth-degree felonies.

Attorney General DeWine Sues Columbus Scooter Store for Failure to Deliver

(COLUMBUS, Ohio) -- Ohio Attorney General Mike DeWine today announced a lawsuit for misrepresentation and failure to deliver against WTF Motorsports, Inc., Columbus Cycle, and Christopher Haehn doing business as Columbus Scooter & Cycle Outlet and Columbus Cycle. The lawsuit charges Christopher Haehn and his businesses with multiple violations of Ohio’s consumer laws.

State, Columbus Refinery Settle Air Pollution Violations

Ohio Attorney General Mike DeWine and Ohio EPA Director Scott J. Nally announced today that the State of Ohio has entered into a Consent Order and final judgment with Heartland Refinery Group LLC (4001 E. Fifth Ave., Columbus). The order was filed in Franklin County Environmental Court before Judge Harland Hale in lieu of a previously scheduled trial. The order resolves the oil re-refinery’s violations of Ohio’s air pollution control laws and rules, including releasing uncontrolled emissions and causing substantial public odor nuisances.
