Policy and Legislation

The Policy and Legislation committee seeks to monitor, identify, develop and promote legislative and policy changes that will result in the reduction of individuals with mental illness and/or alcohol/drug addiction disorders in the criminal justice system.  For those individuals who are not successfully diverted from the Criminal Justice System, the subcommittee will seek to improve, through legislative and policy changes, the effectiveness of and access to behavioral health services at all stages of the criminal justice system and to provide for a smooth reentry back into the community and avoid re-institutionalization.
