Since 1998, the Children Advocacy Center of Portage County has provided crucial, evidence-based services to children, teenagers and families navigating the trauma of child sexual abuse and human trafficking – and has since expanded its services to respond to family violence, dating violence, witness to violence and child physical abuse. The center, part of the Summit County Collaborative Against Human Trafficking, offers free holistic services for the entire family within the context of a coordinated, collaborative multidisciplinary team response facilitated by the advocacy center. It assists with case management, crisis intervention, education, referrals, safety planning, medical examination, lab testing, forensic interviewing, resources, therapy, court education, notification of hearings, help with victim impact statements, court accompaniment and ongoing support.
