Correctional Facility Inspection Services (CFIS), a division of the Ohio Attorney General’s Office, conducts annual inspections of the state's adult and juvenile correctional facilities. These evaluations verify compliance with legal standards, safety regulations, and conditions of confinement.
Section 109.39 of the Ohio Revised Code sets the parameters for inspections, directing CFIS to evaluate:
- Inmate grievance procedures
- Compliance with meal requirements
- At least one review of rehabilitative or educational programs
- Any other compliance area that CFIS determines is appropriate
Inspection reports completed by CFIS will be published on this webpage.
Please note that inmates with concerns or complaints must follow correctional facility grievance procedures, as CFIS cannot accept inmate grievances directly.
