Attorney General DeWine Announces Settlement with American Home Mortgage Servicing

Ohio Attorney General Mike DeWine today announced an agreement with American Home Mortgage Servicing Inc. (AHMSI) to settle a 2009 lawsuit filed in Franklin County Common Pleas Court that alleged AHMSI violated Ohio consumer law by providing inadequate services to consumers seeking loan modifications.

Attorney General DeWine Announces Total of 667 Internet Cafes Operating in Ohio; Renews Call for Regulation

Ohio Attorney General Mike DeWine today announced that his office received 667 affidavits from owners of internet cafes. The affidavits were required as part of Am. Sub. H.B. 386 which put a moratorium on any new electronic sweepstakes parlors or internet cafés. All sweepstakes establishments in existence and operating prior to the effective date of the legislation, which was June 11, 2012, were required to complete an affidavit of existence.  The deadline to submit the affidavits to the Attorney General’s Office was July 11, 2012.

Attorney General DeWine Announces Internet Cafes Registration Requirement

(COLUMBUS, Ohio) – Attorney General Mike DeWine said today that new state legislation now effective bans any new openings of electronic sweepstakes establishments, commonly called Internet cafes. It also places filing requirements on any Internet cafes operating as of today.

“These places have popped up across Ohio and they have been unregulated,” said Attorney General DeWine. “This is a step in the right direction toward protecting Ohioans who play these games.”

Ohio Attorney General Mike DeWine announced today that The ACE Group, a commercial casualty insurer with operations worldwide, has agreed to pay $1.97 million to settle a lawsuit alleging violations of Ohio's antitrust laws.
