The Attorney General’s Office is partnering with the Ohio Department of Health and the Drug Free Action Alliance to invite southern Ohio’s law enforcement agencies to participate in the newly established Ohio Prescription Drug Drop Box Program. The program will provide approximately 75 drop boxes to collect prescription drugs and three incinerators to destroy them.

House Bill 262, sponsored by Representative Teresa Fedor (D-Toledo), also known as the Safe Harbor Law, focuses on human trafficking and will increase the penalties for suspects and improve care for victims.

Welbaum has been named Criminal Justice Section chief in the Attorney General’s Office, where he will oversee Capital Crimes, Non-Capital Habeas Corpus, Special Prosecutions and Corrections Litigation.

Ohio Attorney General Mike DeWine today hailed the announcement by the United States Supreme Court that it will hear the contitutional challenge to the federal health care act brought by Ohio and 25 other states.

 Ohio Attorney General Mike DeWine announced today that his office filed a civil RICO action in Richland County Common Pleas Court, alleging a number of claims including money laundering, theft, and racketeering against the trustees of the former Mansfield All Sports Booster Club and conspiring bingo workers.  The suit alleges that the defendants’ actions resulted in the theft of charitable assets from at least seven Richland County charities.
