Yost Files Lawsuit Over Undelivered Wedding Photos

5/5/2026

(NEW CARLISLE, Ohio) — Ohio Attorney General Dave Yost has sued a Tipp City wedding photographer after numerous complaints from newlywed couples who paid for photos but never received them.

“You don’t get a second shot at your wedding day,” Yost said. “My office is focused on making sure consumers aren’t left out of the picture.”

The lawsuit accuses 22-year-old Alexis Shelton, who operated Patty-Ann Photography, of violating Ohio’s Consumer Sales Practices Act by failing to deliver promised goods or refunds to customers.

In the past year, more than 25 people filed complaints with Yost’s Consumer Protection Section, many alleging that Shelton failed to deliver the wedding images she was hired to provide. Other complaints focused on engagement or anniversary photos that were not delivered.

The complaints also say that Shelton stopped responding to phone calls, emails and text messages from couples seeking updates or refunds.

The lawsuit, filed in Clark County Common Pleas Court, seeks restitution for the affected consumers, as well as civil penalties and court costs. It also requests an injunction to prevent Shelton from further violating Ohio’s consumer protection laws.

Separately, Shelton was indicted in December on one count of theft for similar allegations in a case prosecuted by the Warren County Prosecutor’s Office.

Consumers who suspect an unfair or deceptive business practice should contact the Ohio Attorney General’s Office at 800-282-0515 or OhioProtects.org.
