Attorney General DeWine Announces 25 Arrest Warrants and Seven Search Warrants in Circleville Drug Raid

2/2/2012

(CIRCLEVILLE, Ohio)—Ohio Attorney General Mike DeWine, Circleville Police Chief Wayne Gray, Pickaway County Sheriff Dwight Radcliff, and Pickaway County Prosecutor Judy C. Wolford announce a drug raid operation that today served 25 arrest warrants and conducted seven search warrants.

"This investigation began with the Ohio Attorney General's Bureau of Criminal Investigation (BCI) and the Circleville Police Department," said Attorney General DeWine.  "Ten months later, we have real results.  80% of the drugs involved with these suspected drug dealers were prescription pain killers being sold out of people's homes, inside their businesses, and on the streets."

"We appreciate this collaborative effort, which took months but netted big results," said Circleville Police Chief Wayne Gray. "Circleville is a safer place today."

Today's effort involves many law enforcement agencies including BCI, the Circleville Police Department, the Ohio Attorney General's Ohio Organized Crime Investigations Commission (OOCIC), the Pickaway County Sheriff's Office, and the Pickaway County Prosecutor's Office.

"With this investigation, BCI has seized more than 54,500 prescription pills in the past year, valued at $1.4 million," said DeWine. "We continue our efforts, with the help of law enforcement agencies across Ohio, to shut down pill mills, stop doctors who are illegally dispensing prescription drugs, and arrest street dealers who are selling painkillers. I have a laser-like focus on this effort because it protects Ohio families."
