Senate Bill 268 closes several gaps left open by Senate Bill 77, which went into effect last year.  Senate Bill 77 allowed for DNA collection only from those who had been arrested for a felony crime.  The new law now allows specimen collection from anyone who is indicted by a grand jury or summoned into court on felony charges.

Ohio Attorney General Mike DeWine today appealed the stay of the execution of convicted murderer Charles Lorraine to the United States Supreme Court.

(Columbus, Ohio) – Ohio Attorney General Mike DeWine today announced a settlement with Akron-based companies NSA Technologies LLC and Home Job Placement and their owners, Mark W. Jenney, Victor J. Bierman III, and Vincent E. Fisher, to resolve allegations that they violated consumer law when offering work-at-home programs online. Under the agreement, they will pay more than $35,000 to affected consumers.

(CLEVELAND, Ohio) – Ohio Attorney General Mike DeWine and U.S. Marshal Peter J. Elliott announced at a press conference in Cleveland today that long-time fugitive Bobby Thompson has been arrested in Portland, Oregon.   A tip led investigators to his location, where he has been under surveillance for the past week. He surrendered when approached at his home in Portland last night.

"We are relieved Bobby Thompson is now in federal custody after a nationwide manhunt and years of work within the Attorney General's Office to track him down," said Attorney General DeWine. "We believe he stole between $1.5 and $2 million, which came from generous people in our state who thought they were helping U.S. Navy veterans."

Ohio Attorney General Mike DeWine announced that two more members of a multi-state telemarketing ring, including its alleged ringleader, have been taken into custody by authorities in Ohio and Florida. Only two of the 18 indicted suspects remain at large.

Ohio Attorney General Mike DeWine today announced his support for legislation which would create a statewide Blue Alert system in Ohio to assist in cases where law enforcement have been injured or killed in the line of duty. Ohio Attorney General Mike DeWine today announced Kathleen Kinsella of Stark County will be sentenced December 21, after pleading guilty to theft involving a ticket scam on craigslist. In Stark County Common Pleas Court, Kinsella admitted to stealing $5,499 from multiple victims from December 2009 through May 2011.
