On September 5, 1982, Northwood Police were notified that 19 year old Dana Rosendale was found unconscious, lying in the right of way on the west side of Tracy Road in front of the residence located at 1916 Tracy Road. The police learned that a male subject had come to the door of a neighbor across the street and requested they call fire and rescue for a woman lying by Tracy Road. The male subject stated he spotted her body as he drove up the street. He later admitted Dana had been a passenger in his car and stated she had fallen out of the vehicle.
On September 11, 1982, Dana died and the subsequent autopsy revealed she died of craniocerebral injuries, due to blunt force trauma to the right side of the head. The cause of death was ruled undetermined. In a Northwood Police report dated September 11, 1982, it is noted that Lucas County Coroner Dr. Harry Mignerey contacted the investigating detective and expressed concern that Dana should have exhibited more trauma if she fell from a moving motor vehicle as reported. He expressed concern about that account.
