BCI’s rigorous dedication to integrity, accuracy and excellence in its daily work has led to recognition from international organizations that judge how well agencies comply with professional standards.

The Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies (CALEA) has accredited the bureau since 1998, most recently in 2020, and BCI’s Laboratory Division has been accredited by ANSI National Accreditation Board (ANAB) or a precursor since 2002.

This vital investigative tool helps keep Ohioans safer and, at the same time, respects their privacy rights. Among the prohibited uses of OHLEG are those motivated by the user’s personal interest and the user’s commercial benefits.
