2014 CPT Crimes Against Families Offerings
Human Trafficking: Basic Overview
Human trafficking is one of the most vile crimes occurring in the world today, and it’s happening right under our noses. Not only is human trafficking international in scope, it also encompasses a multitude of felonies. Countless lives have been ruined through this crime, and it isn’t stopping; in fact, it’s the fastest growing crime in the world today.
This class will provide a glimpse of those crimes, as well as examine some of its causes and effects, both nationally and internationally. In addition, we’ll briefly explore the human factors of human trafficking from the perspective of the victims, and the perpetrators. Finally, we will examine the new legislation recently enacted in Ohio which will assist both law enforcement and non-governmental agencies with fighting this crime.
Note: Completion of this course satisfies mandated Human Trafficking training of HB 262. All sessions start at 8:00 a.m. Due to the free course cost, lunch is not covered and will be the responsibility of the student.
