In the early morning hours of July 1, 2001, 17yr old victim, Heath Dean Rutherford, was found lying in the roadway in the area of 7270 Smalley Rd., Windham, Ohio; the victim was pronounced deceased on scene. The victim's injuries were consistent with being struck by a vehicle; the manner of death was ruled a homicide.
