On February 28, 1977 officers responded to the Holiday Inn on Fremont Pike for an abandoned vehicle. Upon arrival, officers found a Lincoln Mark IV in the rear lot. Upon further investigation, officers found a deceased male wrapped in a blanket in the trunk of the vehicle. The victim was found to be Jerry Leirer and he had been shot twice; once in the back of the head and the other in his back.
