Sheriff Scott Kent is a lifelong resident of Crawford County. He resides in Bucyrus, Ohio with his wife and three children. A graduate of Colonel Crawford High School, he went on to North Central Technical College and graduated from the Ohio Peace Officer Basic Training Academy. 

He started his career at the Crawford County Sheriff’s Office in 1994 as a Special Deputy and hired full-time in 1995. In 2002, he was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant, overseeing enforcement operations.

Kent attended the Federal Bureau of Investigation’s National Academy in 2005 and graduated from session #223. He was elected Sheriff in 2013. 

Sheriff Kent is a member of the Buckeye State Sheriffs’ Association and serves as the Northwest District Sheriff Director. He is the board chairman of the METRICH drug task force, and holds memberships with the National and Ohio Chapters of the FBINAA, National Sheriffs’ Association, Life Member of the National Rifle Association and sits on the North Central State Criminal Justice Advisory Committee.
