Patrick joined the Ohio Attorney General's Charitable Law Section in 2014. Patrick currently serves as the Supervising Attorney for the Investigative Unit which investigates complaints alleging the misappropriation of funds intended to help Ohio citizens in need. Patrick has served as lead attorney on several cases involving illegal slot machines found in storefronts, private clubs and other locations throughout Ohio.

As head of the Charitable Law Section's Criminal Team, Patrick acts as a liaison between the Section and local law enforcement. In that role, Patrick ensures that law enforcement is provided with assistance from the Attorney General's Office in whatever capacity required to investigate and prosecute cases involving offenses such as the theft of charitable funds and fraudulent activity by sham charities. He serves as a special prosecutor whenever requested.

Patrick has also assisted several of Ohio's professional sports teams in complying with state charitable fundraising laws.

Prior to joining the Attorney General's Office, Patrick spent over a decade as an assistant prosecuting attorney, with the majority of that time prosecuting adult felony crimes, gaining extensive jury trial experience.
