Trainings for victim service providers
The Attorney General’s Office offers several training sessions for advocates, law enforcement, attorneys and others who serve victims of crime. To attend these trainings, or for more information, please call 800-582-2877.
ADVANCE Academy
ADVANCE offers courses for experienced professionals on topics such as collaboration between law enforcement and victim advocates, elder abuse, navigating through the court system, caring for the caregiver.
Basic Advocacy Skills in Crime Victim Services (BASICS) is a week-long course for professionals new to the field of victim services. Participants develop skills in the areas of child abuse, domestic violence, crisis intervention, legal advocacy, trauma care and death notification.
Bullying has become an everyday occurrence in Ohio's schools and communities, in an effort to provide awareness and education about the implications of bullying, the Office of Ohio Attorney General Mike DeWine will be offering Cyberbullying 101, a one day workshop in five regional sites in Ohio.
Finding Words is an intensive five-day course that gives participants a chance to learn the necessary skills to conduct a competent, investigative interview of a child abuse victim using the CornerHouse forensic interview process.
This training will include presentations on interacting with the SANE and victim advocate; conducting victim interviews; processing crime scenes and suspect kits; and utilizing BCI's CHASE information system.
This annual conference sponsored by the Attorney General’s office focuses on current trends. Experts from the field discuss their latest strategies and tools for raising awareness and tackling issues.

to Friday.
