Open Investigations

The Ohio Attorney General’s Bureau of Criminal Investigation provides databases where local law enforcement can share details and photos related to open investigations and solicit tips from the public.  Missing persons, unsolved homicides, and unidentified remains can be submitted for inclusion.  By including these open investigations in BCI’s databases, local law enforcement can bring widespread visibility to the case, increasing the likelihood that tips can help resolve the investigation or solve a cold case.  The online databases also allow local law enforcement to compare details of investigations in their jurisdiction with investigations elsewhere, helping to identify linked cases.
