Traffic Collision Reconstruction (Level IV)
This course is for officers who reconstruct traffic collisions. Topics covered in this course of instruction include human factors, Newton’s Law of Motion, and basic physics. Students will learn and apply mathematical formulas to determine momentum, vector analysis, energy, speed, velocity, time and distance. This course utilizes project work and students will reconstruct actual and staged collisions involving motor vehicles, pedestrians, motorcycles and commercial motor vehicles. Students will need a scientific calculator and will participate in outside exercises.
Prerequisite: Traffic Collision Investigation (Level I), Advanced Collision Investigation (Level II), and Vehicle Dynamics (Level III) or equivalent courses.
