Investigating Collisions Involving Trains
According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, a motorist is almost 20 times more likely to die in a crash involving a train than in a collision involving another motor vehicle. Law enforcement officers who attend this three day hands-on instruction will receive information from safety specialists from CSX Railroad, will visit a rail yard and will participate in a staged train v. vehicle collision investigation. Students should be familiar with Ohio crash reporting procedures before attending this course. Studentss will need a calculator and will participate in outside exercises.
Note: Students must wear heavy hard soled shoes and appropriate clothing when on railroad property. Since this is a free course, meals will not be provided and are the responsibility of the student.
