Basic Thermal Imaging for Law Enforcement
Students will learn the scientific principles of thermal imaging and how it is useful to Law Enforcement. Students will be instructed in the legal aspects of thermal imaging and participate in hands on exercises using thermal imaging equipment for search and rescue, fugitive searches, officer safety, accident investigations, disturbed surface scenario, and more. Upon completion of the course the students will receive a certification in Law Enforcement Thermography.
Note: The class time on Wednesday Sept. 24th will be from 1:00 pm to 10:00 pm. Students should make arrangements with their department for one nighttime practical exercise which will be in addition to the classroom portion. Students should dress appropriately for the weather conditions that may occur during the outside exercises. Limited thermal imaging equipment will be provided in class but students are asked to bring their departmental thermal imaging equipment if they have one. Thermal imaging equipment can be borrowed from local National Guard Units by individual departments for class. Departments should make contact with National Guard units directly for arrange for use of the equipment.
