The Ohio Attorney General’s Office, through its Bureau of Criminal Identification and Investigation, works with local law enforcement agencies to fight illegal drug activity in Ohio. The bureau’s Narcotics Unit assists law enforcement on a variety of drug cases, ranging from cracking down on street-level drug dealers to participating in larger investigations involving multiple law enforcement agencies. The bureau also has a special unit that focuses on eradicating marijuana in indoor grow houses throughout the state.
Because the bureau typically acts in a support role when fighting drugs, call your local police department or sheriff’s office if you want to report suspicious drug activity.
The bureau has a special unit that helps to fight the spread of Methamphetamine. A highly destructive and addictive drug, Meth is produced using unstable, toxic chemicals. Closing down Meth labs is challenging for law enforcement agencies because these dangerous chemicals can cause explosions. The bureau’s Clandestine Drug Lab Unit is specially trained to safely shut down Meth labs.
