Ohio Drug Use Prevention

The Attorney General's Office coordinates the Ohio Drug Use Prevention grant with local police agencies and sheriffs. The program is a statewide anti-drug and violence program that supports specially trained law enforcement officers who work with local public schools to help students learn to make the right choices about drugs.

This grant replaces what once was known as the D.A.R.E. grant. Although this grant still will support D.A.R.E. programs, it has been expanded to support other officers who teach valuable drug use prevention programs.

Ohio Attorney General Richard Cordray announced that 200 local law enforcement agencies across the state will receive $4.2 million in funding for drug use prevention programs, the highest amount of funding for annual grants in the history of the Attorney General’s Drug Use Prevention Grant.
