(COLUMBUS, Ohio) — Ohio Attorney General Richard Cordray announced today his appointment of John Moliterno, Roger Wise and Anthony Peto to the Ohio Consumers’ Counsel Governing Board. Moliterno, Wise and Peto’s appointments were approved this week by the Ohio Senate. Moliterno and Wise are being reappointed to new three-year terms on the Board, while Peto will serve his first term.

(CLEVELAND) – Ohio Attorney General Richard Cordray and the Ohio Environmental Protection Agency have announced that a chemical drum reconditioning operation and one of its owners have been sentenced on criminal charges in connection with the illegal disposal of hazardous waste following pleas of no contest.

(COLUMBUS, Ohio) – Ohio Attorney General Richard Cordray along with Prevent Blindness Ohio and the Ohio Optical Dispensers Board are today warning consumers about the danger of over-the-counter sales of decorative contact lenses during this Halloween season. According to the Optical Dispensers Board, the number of consumer complaints filed regarding the illegal sale of cosmetic contact lenses and the number of resulting cease and desist orders issued to violating businesses have shown a sharp increase in the past two years.

(COLUMBUS, Ohio) — Ohio Attorney General Richard Cordray has joined 40 attorneys general in a letter of support to the Federal Trade Commission for stronger regulation of “debt relief services,” services which are sold to consumers to reduce or settle their debt. The FTC is reviewing a new rule proposal to amend the current Telemarketing Sales Rule.

(COLUMBUS, Ohio) — In light of National Protect Your Identity Week, Attorney General Richard Cordray today issued a strong warning to Ohioans to be wary of e-mail scams soliciting personal information such as account numbers, passwords and Social Security numbers. The scam e-mails, commonly known as "phishing," often are cleverly designed so that they appear to be from a legitimate company such as a bank or online payment service, retail store or a government agency such as the IRS or Census Bureau.

(SANDUSKY, Ohio) – Ohio Attorney General Richard Cordray this week filed a complaint in Erie County Common Pleas Court against Decorate With Style (operating as USA Wallpaper), a home decorating company based in Sandusky, for failure to deliver purchases made online.

(COLUMBUS, Ohio) – Attorney General Richard Cordray has announced that Ohio will receive $3.4 million as part of a nationwide settlement with four pharmaceutical companies. The companies, Mylan Pharmaceuticals, Inc. (“MPI”), UDL Laboratories, Inc. (UDL), AstraZeneca Pharmaceuticals LP, and Ortho McNeil Pharmaceutical, Inc., will pay a total of $124 million to resolve claims that they violated the state and federal False Claims Acts by failing to pay appropriate rebates for drugs that were paid for by Medicaid.

(COLUMBUS, Ohio) — Ohio Attorney General Richard Cordray today warned that the number of identity theft cases is on the rise, and most Ohioans are not aware of the necessary steps for recovery. Speaking at a news conference in Columbus kicking off National Protect Your Identity Week, Cordray released new statistics that not only show a rise in Ohio incidents but also that victims are often at a loss on how to respond and repair the damage done.

(DAYTON, Ohio) - The former operators as well as the current property owner of a closed hazardous waste treatment, storage and disposal facility in Dayton have been ordered to finish determining the extent of contamination that remains at the site, address any impacted soil and ground water and pay $14,706,800 in stipulated penalties.

Ohio Attorney General Richard Cordray announced today a new initiative of his office, undertaken in partnership with the Ohio Bureau of Motor Vehicles. Speaking at the Annual Conference of the Ohio Association of Nonprofit Organizations which is co-sponsored by the Ohio Attorney General’s Charitable Law section, Attorney General Cordray indicated that Ohio’s Bureau of Criminal Identification and Investigation (BCI) has joined with the Ohio Bureau of Motor Vehicles to provide National WebCheck background checks at local deputy registrar locations around Ohio.
