(COLUMBUS, Ohio) — In a lawsuit filed today, Ohio Attorney General Richard Cordray alleges that Columbus Fire Repair (Nation’s Construction, LLC) targeted and scammed Ohioans whose homes were recently damaged by fire. The lawsuit filed in the Franklin County Court of Common Pleas charges the company and its owner, William Bridge III, with several violations of Ohio consumer law including failure to deliver, shoddy workmanship and unfair, deceptive and unconscionable sales practices.

(COLUMBUS, Ohio) – Ohio’s share of a global settlement with Aventis Pharmaceutical, Inc. will be $5,019,441.83. Attorney General Richard Cordray said today the settlement agreement resolves allegations that Aventis knowingly misreported drug prices for three nasal sprays in order to reduce its obligations under the Medicaid drug rebate statute.

(COLUMBUS, Ohio) — Connecticut Attorney General Richard Blumenthal today announced that he will file a lawsuit against Standard & Poor’s, Moody’s Corp. and Fitch for their “negligent, reckless and incompetent work” in grading investments. Ohio Attorney General Richard Cordray, on behalf of Ohio pension and retirement funds, filed suit on Nov. 20, alleging that the rating agencies made misleading evaluations of mortgage-backed securities due, in part, to the lucrative fees they received from the same issuers they were supposed to be objectively evaluating.

(COLUMBUS, Ohio) — As shoppers pound the pavement this Friday for some of the best deals of the year, Attorney General Richard Cordray warns consumers to shop smart in a year fraught with historically high numbers of consumer complaints.
“For some Ohioans, shopping the day after Thanksgiving is as much of a tradition as turkey and mashed potatoes. Unfortunately, we also know that it is also a holiday when aggressive retailers ramp up their marketing ploys,” said Cordray. “As we close on a year with a significantly high volume of consumer complaints, it is absolutely imperative that shoppers look to protect themselves from deals that are too good to be true.”

(COLUMBUS, Ohio) – Based on his longstanding support for Second Amendment rights, Attorney General Richard Cordray announced today that his office has co-sponsored an amicus brief in the United States Supreme Court, arguing that these rights should be protected from undue restrictions imposed by state and local governments.

(COLUMBUS, Ohio) — Ohio Attorney General Richard Cordray today sued two companies that allegedly targeted then ripped off homeowners threatened by foreclosure. The lawsuits are part of a national sweep on foreclosure rescue scams announced this afternoon by the Federal Trade Commission.

(COLUMBUS, Ohio) – Ohio Attorney General Richard Cordray today filed a lawsuit against Standard & Poor’s, Moody’s and Fitch, three national agencies that are responsible for providing accurate credit ratings of investments. The lawsuit, filed in United States District Court for the Southern District of Ohio on behalf of five Ohio public employee retirement and pension funds, charges the rating agencies with wreaking havoc on U.S. financial markets by providing unjustified and inflated ratings of mortgage-backed securities in exchange for lucrative fees from securities issuers.
