Attorney General DeWine and Ohio Department of Transportation Announce Settlement with Machinery Transport for I-74 Interchange Damage

Ohio Attorney General Mike DeWine and the Ohio Department of Transportation (ODOT) announced that a settlement has been reached with Machinery Transport, Inc., of Henderson, Texas, for damage sustained to the Interstate 74/Interstate 275 interchange near Cincinnati. Pursuant to the settlement, Machinery Transport paid ODOT $726,757.27 for costs associated with the repair of the interchange.

Attorney General DeWine Awards $3.5 Million in Drug Use Prevention Grants

Ohio Attorney General Mike DeWine today announced that 201 local law enforcement agencies across the state will receive $3.5 million in funding for drug use prevention programs through the Attorney General’s Drug Use Prevention Grant.

Attorney General DeWine and 37 States Announce $40.75 Million Pharmaceutical Manufacturing Settlement

(Columbus, Ohio) – Ohio Attorney General Mike DeWine, along with 37 other state attorneys general, announced today a $40.75 million settlement, pending court approval, with pharmaceutical companies GlaxoSmithKline, LLC (GSK) and SB Pharmco Puerto Rico, Inc. (SB Pharmco) to resolve concerns about their alleged substandard manufacturing processes.

In a complaint filed today, Attorney General DeWine alleged that GSK and SB Pharmco engaged in unfair and deceptive practices when they manufactured and distributed batches of certain prescription drugs from a facility in Cidra, Puerto Rico from 2001 to 2004. The manufacturing processes used to produce the batches were substandard.

Attorney General DeWine Announces Charitable Fundraiser Will Discontinue Ohio Solicitations after Misleading Donors

(COLUMBUS, Ohio)—Ohio Attorney General Mike DeWine announced today that a Tennessee company which raised funds in Ohio on behalf of several charities has agreed to discontinue solicitations in Ohio for at least five years.

"The Ohio Attorney General's Office has an obligation to protect Ohio's charitable donors and their rights to not be misled about where their donations go. This agreement shows that we will take strong actions against professional solicitors who take advantage of Ohioans' generosity," Attorney General DeWine said.

Ohio Attorney General DeWine Announces Sentencing of Cincinnati-area Dentist in Medicaid Fraud Case

(COLUMBUS, Ohio) – Ohio Attorney General Mike DeWine announced today that Dr. Jeffrey Glenn, of Cincinnati, has been sentenced to five years of community control and ordered to pay restitution of $225,000, after pleading guilty to one count of aggravated theft, a third-degree felony.

"We are going after these kinds of cases all the time," said Attorney General DeWine. "This is a great example of our state offices working together to fight health care fraud."

Attorney General DeWine Supports Right to Cure Legislation

(COLUMBUS, Ohio) – Today Ohio Attorney General Mike DeWine announced his support of the "Right to Cure" bill in an Ohio Statehouse press conference with bill sponsors, Representatives Ron Young (R–Leroy Twp.) and Lynn Slaby (R–Copley Twp.).

The Right to Cure legislation is intended to help consumers and business owners come to a quick and fair resolution when there's a dispute that reaches the court level.

Attorney General DeWine Creates New Advisory Group and Leads Effort to Take Guns Out of the Hands of Violent Criminals

(COLUMBUS, Ohio) Today Ohio Attorney General Mike DeWine pledged to focus efforts on removing guns from violent repeat criminals.  He announced the formation of a new Ohio Attorney General Gun Crime Advisory Group.

“As I travel across Ohio, I am constantly talking with law enforcement officers about the huge problem of convicted felons who are using guns.  This is especially a problem in Ohio’s big cities,” said Attorney General DeWine. “What we need to do is get these criminals off the streets. They shouldn’t have the weapons in the first place. And we see the same people over and over again committing violent crimes.”

Attorney General DeWine Sues Allcare Dental for Consumer Law Violations

(COLUMBUS, Ohio) – Ohio Attorney General Mike DeWine today filed a lawsuit against New York-based Allcare Dental (Allcare) for failing to deliver promised services to consumers after it abruptly closed in early 2011.

"When Allcare shut its doors, it left behind hundreds of Ohioans who had paid for dental products and services they never received," Attorney General DeWine said. "In some cases, Ohioans went weeks and months without dentures, or they scrambled to retrieve their dental records and quickly find a new provider. We want to do everything we can to protect these consumers."

Ohio Attorney General DeWine Joins in Recognizing World Elder Abuse Awareness Day

(COLUMBUS) – Ohio Attorney General Mike DeWine joins today in raising concerns for elder safety as June 15 is recognized as World Elder Abuse Awareness Day. Legislation to recognize the day on a state level is pending in Ohio.

"As Attorney General, my job is to protect Ohioans – especially our elderly.  The elderly face many challenges, and abuse is one of them," said Attorney General DeWine. "My office is dedicated to protecting this vulnerable population and letting people know about the problem of elder abuse and how it can be prevented. We also can help those who have been victims of this abuse."
