Welcome to the Ohio Attorney General Opinions Archive. The archive includes all of the Opinions from 1846 to 1992. These Opinions are PDF’d from the actual books, and are therefore both authentic and authoritative. Early Opinions did not follow each other in strict numerical order.
Opinions are cited in three (3) different formats, dependent upon the year in which they were issued. The “How to Cite Formal AG Opinions” guide on the left provides the correct format by date.
To use this archive:
When searching for a particular Opinion:

To find Opinions prior to 1993, select a decade under “Opinions by Decade”. The decade page will provide links to each year’s Opinions and “Supplemental Matter” PDF documents. The “Supplemental Matter” PDF contains that year’s Attorney General Code section, tables, and information to help with citation.
When searching for Opinions on a given topic:

Use the Indices found in each year's "Supplemental Matter" PDF if you are not certain which key words to use;

If you know the key words, you may type them in the “Search” box. If the results include a cite for a specific year, click on the link to open the PDF document, and use your search terms again within the PDF.

Overruled Opinions” to ensure that they are still valid.
